Annual Managers’ Away Day

The brief

Each year, 25 managers from across different parts of the UK attended an annual away day. The MD usually ran it himself with his senior team, but this year he wanted to introduce a greater focus on leadership, with an objective to help each manager develop their leadership skills. The day always included a lot of fun and that was an important element to continue.

The results

We ran an interactive and fun day with lots of opportunities to share and learn from each other. Each manager left equipped with more knowledge and understanding about different leadership styles, knowing when to delegate, when to step in help and when to step back. They gained a better understanding of their own leadership strengths and areas to develop.

“Rachael’s easy going and personable style proved very effective. Her interactive and humorous approach, rather than a teacher-student scenario, worked very well for our team. A mix of delivery methods also helped the day flow effectively. Overall, a very successful day, thank you Rachael!”
Managing Director

Approach

Working with a co-facilitator from the business, we:

  • Designed a fun day that would bring new insights and have meaning on a personal level
  • Gave people opportunities to move around and work with people they didn’t know
  • Explored why good leadership matters and defined what makes a great leader
  • Introduced a leadership model to help them identify their own leadership style and decide style which suits different situations
  • Ran a live, fun exercise to help them see their leadership in action
